Congratulations to Zaid Al-Ars for winning the HiPEAC Tech Transfer Award winner, an award that recognises the successful examples of technology transfers from academia to industry. HiPEAC is the European Network of Excellence on High Performance Architectures, which focusses on steering European research in the area of high-performance and embedded computing systems. The Tech Transfer Award was created to stimulate the uptake of research by industry and to reward and celebrate the valorization of these results.
Zaid won the award for the collaborative work between the Delft University of Technology and BlueBee on "Accelerated Genomics Analysis Algorithms Using Hardware/Software Codesign".
The BlueBee team and HiPEAC Steering Committee would like to extend warm congratulations to all award winners.
About HiPEACZaid Al-Ars
The HiPEAC network is an FP7 project which gathers about 1500 researchers in computing systems in Europe. It is the biggest such network in the world, offering training, mobility support, dissemination services, and abundant networking facilities to its members. The yearly budget of the network is about 1 M Euro. The third edition of HiPEAC started on January 2012, and will run until December 2015. It is run by a consortium of six universities, one research institute and five companies. It is coordinated by Ghent University.
