Hans Cobben is the CEO of BlueBee. He is a serial entrepreneur, seasoned executive, investor and enabler for start-ups and cofounder of a number of globally successful companies in the fintech domain. He has held senior executive roles at Alcatel, SunGard and SWIFT. Driven by his experience in technology and excited by the potential of high performance genomics, Hans joined BlueBee as a CEO in 2013.
Kurt Florus is CTO for BlueBee. Kurt manages the development teams focusing on building and deploying BlueBee’s cloud-based genomics platform, with a strong focus on security, resilience, and end user functionality. Kurt joins BlueBee from SWIFT, the global provider of ultra-secured financial messaging services with over 15 years of experience in building large scale mission-critical platforms.
As BlueBee’s COO Marc Gielis is responsible for operations, security, compliance and customer services. Marc is an operations professional with proven experience in ICT operations, technical services, data centers, call-centers and after-sales services. Marc worked most of his career in the technology sector, prior to joining BlueBee he held senior roles at Argenta, Interxion, Liberty Global & Canal+.
Edmée van Dijk is BlueBee’s CFO. She joined BlueBee from Delft University of Technology, where she was responsible for the investment portfolio of the university. Prior she worked in Venture Capital firm TIIN Capital. Edmée holds a degree in biotechnology, combined with a MSc in Management from Nyenrode and a Postdoc in Business Valuation at the Rotterdam School of Management and is a Registered Valuator.
Head of Research
Vlad-Mihai Sima is one of the founders of BlueBee and he supervises the research and development of our high-performance solutions in bioinformatics. Vlad obtained his Ph.D. from the Computer Engineering Lab at the Delft University of Technology. He is an authority on the subject of accelerating and optimizing computer systems, focusing on genomics algorithms. His work was published in various scientific publications in leading conferences and journals on the topic.
VP of Product Strategy
Dr. Pam Cheng has a rich background in leading product management at a range of established and early phase technology companies. Her expertise in clinical bioinformatics was honed from her years of experience at Illumina, Complete Genomics, and Agilent Technologies. As a member of the executive team, Pam leads BlueBee’s product and service development strategy to help accelerate BlueBee’s global scaleup.
VP Global Marketing
Michelle Garred is a seasoned marketer with a diverse background achieved in global biotech. Her genomics expertise started in a core services lab and then translated to technology and solutions providers such as Fluidigm and Illumina. As a member of the executive team, based out of the San Francisco Bay Area, Michelle serves as BlueBee’s VP of Global Corporate Marketing, including brand development and commercial growth as BlueBee scales to power precision medicine.
