Just announced today, the BlueBee Genomics Platform has achieved compliance with all data security safeguards outlined in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). The HIPAA Security and Privacy safeguards are designed to protect Protected Health Information (PHI) for all customer data uploaded to the BlueBee Genomics Platform. This achievement was validated by an independent third party HIPAA security consulting firm. This external validation provides an independent confirmation of the strength of BlueBee’s information security management system (ISMS) and security controls
Earlier this year, in October of 2016, BlueBee also achieved ISO 27001:2013 certification. Taking all these achievements into consideration clearly demonstrates that BlueBee places the highest importance on data security and information governance.
“Data security and privacy is of utmost importance in the healthcare industry and a must have requirement for BlueBee to effectively serve our customers and their needs of processing sensitive patient data.” said Hans Cobben, CEO at BlueBee. “With the rapid adoption of the BlueBee platform in the United States came the need for confirmation of HIPAA compliance. Our customers can now feel confident that our highly secured genomics platform completely adheres to HIPAA data security standards with all its Privacy and Security Rules when processing and storing sensitive patient data.”
